Final : SketchUp Satellite Thermometer
My Custom Model for Pure War!, a metaphor for the increased satellite activity in the night space.
3D model by baulko_bucky |
Final : Concept
Research from the live feed Space Weather Prediction Center (Pachube), there is astounding evidence that there is an extremely large increase in space activity during the night. With The U.S. desiring intelligence in a grasp of the upperhand in modern warfare, And pouring billions into NASA research, it has aroused my suspicions. There are better things to spend money on in this earth.
Pachube
Space Weather Prediction Station. The levels measured were the Solar Wind Density (protons/cm3), which I interpreted as space (and in specific, satellite) activity.
Pure War!
With a shifting dimension of the battlefield, as technology becomes more intergrated with our lives, the new warfare seems almost virtual, and a more psychological stage on which to declare war. This links with satellites, which the Americans (and undoubtedly other superpowers) use as their main source of intelligence from around the world. Intelligence is the new currency, and everyone wants a piece of the knowledge.
Final : Pure War And Satellites
In a shifting world, technology and intelligence are the new currency to trade in. With the U.S. Government pouring billions of dollars into NASA, you'd think they are hiding something. The use of satellites for intelligence creates a new dimension of war, which delves into technological and mental warfare beyond countries.
Week 4 : Test of Tutorials, Vegas, Documentary
The buildings MaterialParam is set to opacity, so that when I approach it, it becomes more visible, but when I walk away, it fades into the distance. I combined this with a light, representing my concept of nighttime warfare, a dimension of Pure War I wanted to explore. The light comes on when the sun sets, furthering my idea of things becoming active under the veil of darkness.

Week 1 : Pachube Research
Space Weather
This live feed is quite interesting because more than anything, its actually a prediction of future events. It is a prediction center for Space Weather, with very interesting measurements like Solar Wind Speed, Solar Wind Density and other Interplanetary components. I'm sure this is quite an interesting feed for me to extrapolate from, and I'd like to see where this goes.
Interesting enough, I found that the trend in both Speed and Density is a peak just after sunset, and exceptionally high levels all the way through the night till the sun comes out again. Maybe I could link the time of day to something in the future.
Kilpisjärvi Biological Station - Weather Tunnel
This feed gives us a comprehensive look into alot of dimensions of weather and the environment in a city in Finland. It takes into account things such as humidity, light, noise, temperature, air quality, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide levels.
Check it out!!
